Hii, you can call me Gabi.
I was born in Brazil, lived there for the first 18 years of my life, always loved photography and communication and thought I wanted to be a journalist when I was younger. After I started studying journalism, I realised that the only class I really liked was photojournalism (I wonder why hehe) and after realising that journalism wasn't for me, I came to Australia to study English!
Long story short, I can speak English now (Finally!! It look me a while to learn), studied photography and turned my love for it into a business.
I am a hopeless romantic! I am always gonna ask you to tell me your love story- and really listen to it. My tummy is usually visited by butterflies from stories that are not mine, and these stories are the ones I love capturing the most!
I love music with all my heart! Used to play the violin when I was a teenager, tried to learn how to play piano and sometimes I still play a little bit of flute and ukulele. I will also definitely bring with me a speaker to every photoshoot! It makes everything seem like a movie!
I am the kind of person who likes to appreciate the simple things in life, like a walk at the beach, a deep conversation, the first spring breezes touching my skin after winter. I really enjoy watching leaves dancing along with the wind, hearing the raindrops falling when I am about to sleep, and, not as a surprise at all, I love listening to other people's love stories. Seriously! That's one of my favourites. I also like taking naps at the beach (and parks) and my favourite drink is fresh juice!
I try to live up to the idea that there is beauty in everything.
Why do I do what I do?
Since I was 16 years old I would take my camera to different and various places. I liked to play with the light, with the composition, with whatever was in front of me but mostly nature! I would always point my camera up to the sky and try to make the photo look as beautiful as what I could see, was! I also liked taking photos of leaves, flowers, landscape views and you know, everything nature related. I still love it to this day!
I grew up to start enjoying going to parks and sitting on benches, just to watch people being people, acting as people do. I would listen to my favourite songs while doing it and I swear, it was like watching a heartwarming movie. Every smile, every cuddle, every kiss that I witnessed happening, were my favourite things to watch and would make me think to myself: "How lucky they are for having each other" and "I wish they could see this moment from my perspective". Soon enough I caught myself capturing those moments with my eyes at all times, even without my camera and I would literally hear a "click" in my mind at the exact moment that in my opinion, would be special to be remembered.
Flowers and leaves gave space to what became much more special to me as a photographer: people.
Each person is unique and because of that, every relationship is unique too. There is a story behind each man, each woman, each couple, each family and behind just a person and their dog. There is a connection. There is love. There is affection, there is pleasure, there is vulnerability, resilience and trust. There is a story of how it started, there is the everyday of how it is going. There is a bond that was built and that every day gets stronger.
This kind of relationship needs to be fully lived. It needs to be cherished, eternalized and remembered.
And that is what I live for, now. That is what I love doing.
I still like to take photos of flowers and leaves but I found a way I can use my sensible eyes and my camera, to help people see from another perspective how beautiful their precious relationships are. I like to watch them being themselves together, eternalise some of their special moments and say:
